BEAU Dowden, M.D.

Dr. Beau DowdenBeau Dowden, M.D. is a 2003 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. In 2006, he completed his residency training at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in South Bend, Indiana, and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He has been providing Family Medicine and Urgent Care services in Fort Gratiot since August 2006. Dr. Dowden enjoys Family Medicine because it gives the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with patients of all ages, as well as to see multiple members of the same families. He provides treatment of acute illnesses and management of chronic conditions, while placing an emphasis on preventative health. He also has a special interest in doing office-based procedures. Dr. Dowden and his wife, Karen, have been married since 2003, and they have three children. They attend Colonial Woods Missionary Church, and have three dogs and two hamsters. Dr. Dowden’s hobbies include spending time with family, cycling, and cheering for Notre Dame Football.


JULIE BOUTT, M.D.Dr. Beau Dowden

Julie Boutt, MD is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1997. In 2000, she completed her Family Practice Residency at William Beaumont Hospital of Troy, Michigan, and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. She chose to pursue Family Medicine because of its variety, and the ability to provide evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of patients of all ages. Dr. Boutt and her husband, Anthony, have been married since 1998 and have three children. They have enjoyed being a member of the Port Huron community since 2002. Dr. Boutt enjoys skiing, boating, traveling, and spending time with her active children.



Dr. Beau DowdenKaren Dowden is a Family Nurse Practitioner who grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. She pursued a career in nursing and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000, and her Master of Science from Purdue University Calumet in 2006.  She holds national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  Her experience includes working as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and in the Emergency Room.  As a Nurse Practitioner her work experience includes teaching Undergraduate Nursing, working in Hematology/Oncology, and now practicing in Family Medicine.  Karen has an ongoing interest in medical aesthetics, and has pursued additional training in this field.  She is happy to be able to be living out her passion helping others.  Karen, and her husband, Beau, have three children and multiple pets.  She loves that her extended family lives in the Port Huron area.  Karen serves on the Board of Directors of Hunter Hospitality House.  Karen enjoys spending time with her family and being involved with her children and their activities while they are still young.


Dr. Beau DowdenJosephine Kamendat is a Family Nurse Practitioner who grew up in the area. She graduated from St. Clair County Community College with her Associates Degree in Nursing, and worked for fifteen years as an RN at local area hospitals. While working she pursued further education, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012 and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2018 from the University of Michigan-Flint. She holds national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Kamendat provides compassionate, age-appropriate and quality-driven care. She uses current guidelines to treat illness, guide patients towards wellness, and encourage maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Kamendat and her husband Dan have five active children. She enjoys spending time with her family and being involved in their activities. She also enjoys reading, running, and dancing.


Renee Jankowski, MSN, FNP-c Dr. Beau Dowden

Renee Jankowski received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1999. She worked nearly twenty years at St. John Hospital and Medical Center as a registered nurse. Her commitment to nursing and medicine led her to pursue her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and she graduated in 2015 from Walden University of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and licensed to practice in the State of Michigan. Renee is committed to providing patient-centered care using the most recent evidenced-based practices. She places an emphasis on wellness, and encourages patients to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. She resides in Port Huron area with her husband and two sons. She is involved with volunteering at the school, and loves being active in her children’s lives. She enjoys baseball, soccer, camping, swimming, and outdoor activities with family and friends.

AMY VILAS, PA-C Dr. Beau Dowden

Amy Vilas, PA-C is a Family Medicine Physician Assistant from Yale, MI. She graduated from Marietta College, in Marietta, Ohio, with her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She is nationally certified by the NCCPA and licensed by the State of Michigan to practice medicine. Amy has worked in Family Medicine since becoming a Physician Assistant in 2009, and appreciates the wide variety that it offers. She enjoys treating the entire family, providing preventative visits, treatments for acute illnesses and chronic conditions, and office based procedures. Amy has two girls that she adores and enjoys time with them and her husband, as well as extended family. She has two dogs and also enjoys reading, as well as camping, snowmobiling, and being in the outdoors.
